Commissioning

Site commissioning for Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is a critical phase that ensures safety, performance, compliance, and long-term operational reliability

What Is EV & BESS Site Commissioning?

Site commissioning is the structured validation, testing, and approval process required before EV charging systems or energy storage assets can go live. It ensures all technical, operational, network and safety requirements have been met in line with regulatory standards, manufacturer specifications, and programme objectives.

Forest Grove offers a comprehensive commissioning framework, covering planning, on-site validation, documentation, technical testing, and handover to operations. Our approach ensures every site is fully compliant, safe, and optimised for performance before entering service.

Technical Expertise & Field Experience

Deploy commissioning engineers and project specialists with deep knowledge of EV charging hardware, electrical systems, grid connections, and BESS integration.

Structured Commissioning Framework

Follow a standardised, repeatable process covering pre-commissioning checks, energisation procedures, system testing, and final sign-off.

Compliance & Safety Assurance

Ensure each site is delivered to the highest safety and regulatory standards, including electrical compliance, DNO requirements, manufacturer instructions, and environmental obligations.

Speed to Mobilisation

Rapidly scale up commissioning teams to support multi-site deployment programmes or accelerated rollout timelines.

End to End Documentation

Comprehensive commissioning packs, testing records, as built updates, photographic evidence, defects logs, and operational handover documents.

Outcome Focused Delivery

We focus on right first time commissioning, effective defect management, and ensuring assets are fully ready for operation on day one.

Why Choose Forest Grove for EV & BESS Commissioning?

Site commissioning for Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is a critical phase that ensures safety, performance, compliance, and long-term operational reliability. Forest Grove provides structured, end-to-end commissioning services that help organisations accelerate deployment, reduce risk, and achieve full readiness for energisation and commercial operation.

Use Case Scenario

National Rollout of EV Charging Sites

A renewable energy operator was preparing to bring a new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) site online but had limited clarity around the on-site networking configuration. This lack of visibility created risk around system connectivity, data flows, and the integration of supplier equipment.

Forest Grove deployed an experienced Site Support Engineer to site to take full ownership of the commissioning process of the network and provide onsite representation. We also reviewed all technical drawings for the network infrastructure and provided guidance on setup where necessary. Acting as the client’s representative onsite, the Commissioning Manager coordinated and directed multiple suppliers including networking teams, controls engineers, OEM technicians, and EPC partners.

The Site Support Engineer ensured the correct network topology was implemented, validated device configurations, resolved conflicting supplier requirements, and established clear communication protocols across all parties. Through structured coordination and technical oversight, Forest Grove achieved a clean, fully validated commissioning outcome. We supplied our client with highly detailed weekly reports outlining progress, risks, issues and recommendations.
